Remember 2008; Bush was in office, the economy was in the toilet, and the Internet was relying more and more on individuals for its content. Social networking websites such as Facebook and Myspace were taking over with a fury not seen since the spring of 1940 France. E commerce was on the rise as people began buying their shirts from large websites who specialized in shirt design.

While the shirts on these sites were quite funny and creative, the founders of The Shirt Alert felt that orders from these websites were typically met with disappointment. Buying two shirts would run upwards of $45 while the sizing and printing quality prevented said shirts from entering the regular rotation or even achieving “golden boy” status.

With a plethora of knowledge, life experience, free time, and methamphetamine we set off to start our own shirt company that would address the issues plaguing those other sites. Near the end of 2008, The Shirt Alert was born in Evanston, IL. Sales and feedback were immediate and positive as word of mouth spread across the Midwest. Orders came unexpectedly pouring in from every state in the union, even Canada. Our designs were selling, but we realised we weren't connecting enough with you, the customer. In an effort to even further differentiate ourselves from those large websites, we set out to design a new site that would add key features. We wanted to link directly with social networking, provide a blog, have a better comments and rating system, and lower prices even more. In addition, the mear thought of charging for shipping made us shutter worse than Mel Gibson at a bar mitzvah. With all of these issues in mind, we created our new site.

The result is what you see before you today. We continue to offer funny designs, low prices, quality printing on quality shirts, and a money back guarantee if you are unsatisfied with your purchase. Now we have added free shipping, better content, and an expanded selection of garments. In addition, there are more ways to connect through our blog, messageboard, or social networking. While those other sites are raising prices and lowering quality to appease their overbearing parent companies/regimes, we aim to fix their problems and provide you a better experience all around. As we grow, we are striving to maintain that small store service and feeling we have always provided. We hope you will come along for the ride.
